Pre-School
Concepts

The Core Knowledge Sequence - what we teach - is predicated on the realization that what children are able to learn at any given moment depends on what they already know–and, equally important, that what they know is a function of previous experience and teaching.

Based on the framework of the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, our learning environment offers well-planned, learning centers. Throughout the day, children make self-directed and guided choices, participate in small groups and projects, join in meeting times with the whole group, and reflect upon and document their own learning experience.

About
Enrichments

Art allows children to explore and discover their world and nurtures their inventiveness. Our program is based on the principle of process, not product. We provide each child a wide variety of art materials, explain how to use the media, and then allow them to explore.

Our Music program incorporates daily singing, activities that work on pitch, rhythm, solfege, and note recognition. Creative movement is also encouraged.

Pre-School students at Carolina Prep attend daily classes in Spanish. A typical lesson plan includes songs, rhymes, games, play-acting with puppets, and other physical activities that appeal to the students.

In addition to the benefits of daily physical activity and creating healthy exercise habits, our Physical Education program helps build confidence and physical skills in any activities that our children decide to pursue.
